Well the past two weeks have been interesting

Well the past two weeks have been interesting.  Two weeks ago I raced a regional Arenacross in my hometown of Albuquerque.  It was a fun weekend.   I got to race in front of fans and people I grew up with.  The people in Albuquerque are awesome to me and it was a good time.  I had good fortune over the weekend and the Lord blessed me.  I won every race I was in and even won the jump off.  I made quite a nice chunk of change.  It was a good weekend.

The following weekend was a little different.  I went back to Supercross.  Houston was a fun track to ride, but not to race on.  Everyone did the same rhythms and took the same lines.  The weekend started out good.  I felt awesome in practice and was having fun.  On Saturday I had some good practice laps and was getting fired up for the races.  On the last lap of the last practice my bike broke.  It was too bad to be fixed in time so I hurried to the AMA trailer and got them to check in Ryan Clarks 250F for me to ride.

I went out for the day qualifier not having ridden the bike one single lap but made the best of it.  I got a decent start and road around getting used to the bike.  I finished seventh and barely qualified.  In the nighttime heat race I got a good jump and headed for the first turn.  In the first turn Billy Laninovich crashed in front of me and I got stuck behind him and Jonathan Shimp.  Then I got off Laninovich's bike and I took off.  Before I even made a lap I had a run in with a guy who decided to take a stupid line.  I jumped into him, so it is not his fault, but the line he took was still not a smart one.  I crashed pretty hard and bent up my bike.  I did not make into a transferring position so I had to go to the LCQ.

I had last pick in the LCQ.  I got a good jump and came out of the first turn in about 15th, not good, but not bad from that far outside.  I passed about ten guys in four laps to finish fifth.  One spot from transferring to the main event.  It was a sad ending to a hard day.

It is hard to think that I got fourth in the last west coast race before Houston and then did not qualify.  But, hey, Matt Walker did not qualify for Anaheim and he won the Houston race.  With a field full of talent it is interesting to see what the outcome of the series will be.
