Hi fans I thought I would get you
caught up on why I haven’t been racing.
Well I haven't been to any of the first three nationals. I wish that I could have raced but I have just
been too sick. The week before Las
Vegas supercross I started getting sick.
In Vegas I felt ok during the morning practices and qualifiers. I was planning on racing both classes but
that didn’t happen. I was racing the
250 class on my YZ426. I won my day
qualifier and was turning good lap times on it and all indications were that II
was plenty fast to make the 250 main event.
After the day qualifier I went back
to my truck and tried to take a nap. I
was feeling ok and didn't think anything was going to stop me from making both
mains. When I woke up I went to eat
some dinner and get ready for the night show.
I started feeling terrible. I
was getting cold chills and I had a terrible headache. It was not a good feeling. I started feeling like I needed to throw up
but I decided to race anyway. I went
down to the starting line of the 125 heat race even though on the line I felt
horrible. I was dizzy and couldn't even
make my eyes focus on anything. I raced
the heat race and just couldn't go. I
fell in the first turn, that didn't help anything. Then I raced around out of whack and ended up 13th or so. I gave a good effort but I just couldn't
focus and put good laps together. After
almost crashing every lap of the race I decided to call it a night. I was so sick I didn't even go out. We were in Vegas and I went back to my room
and slept. I was feeling horrible.
When I went to the doctor the next
week he told me that I might have an ear infection. So I tried to ride the next day and just couldn't do anything
right on the bike. I went back to the
doctor and found out that I had mononucleosis, or mono. I have been home resting ever since. I have taken a month off because there is
nothing you can do for mono except rest and eat right. I have been doing this and getting really
bored. I am planning on making a return
to racing at Budds Creek. I hope to do
all right but I know that it will take me a little while longer to fully get
over this and get back into good shape.
Hope to see everyone at the races soon.
