Kevin Johnson Reports On a Bad Day at Red Bud

Dear: Race Fans
Red Bud
was not a good weekend for me. I
qualified out of the Sunday morning qualifiers with little effort. Going into the first Moto, I was not really
feeling that well. I am not really used
to good dirt, or ruts and Red Bud had both.
I struggled all day to stay in the ruts. I just don't have the confidence in myself to lean it over enough
and it took me a while to figure out how to ride the track.
In the first Moto, I almost went
down on the start and had to charge from the back. On the first lap, I banged with a couple of guys and ended up losing
positions. On the fourth lap, I slid
out in a turn and Danny Smith of Team Suzuki ran into my back. I hurt my back practicing and have fluid on
my hip. He ran right into the very sore
part of my back that was all ready bruised.
After I got my bike going I ran good consistent laps until the first
Moto was over.
In the second Moto, I started
mid-pack. On the first lap, I was passing
going into a corner when I came in a little hot and ran into Damon Huffman. I
did not think that anything would happen (just a little rubbing). But when I hit him my front disk got stuck on
his foot peg and we both went down.
After we got our bikes apart it took a little while for my old four stroke
to get running again. I took off in
dead last and could not even see the next guy.
I caught up to a couple of people, but my rotor was so bent that I
didn't have a front brake, so I pulled off.
Hopefully with a good week of riding
on the road in Michigan, I can get all the things worked out that need to
be. I hope to do well in Troy and I
will see you at the races. I would like to thank LCR Racing, Fly Racing and all
my sponsors for their continued support!
