Hey fans,
how is it going? I am doing well. I am sorry it has taken me so long
to write you about Washougal. I have been busy doing some things here in
NY. I am still staying at my mechanics house in Utica, NY. It is ok
and there are some places to ride, but they are really dry right now. This past
weekend, I went to a race in PA at Mapleshade Raceway. It was a fun
track, but really rocky. I had a lot of bad luck. I got a flat
front in one moto. A rock put a hole all the way through my tire and the
tube. In another moto my bike started running terrible, but we are not
sure why. It was still good practice because the promoter ran our races
for twenty minutes plus two laps. I got in a little training and made more money
than I have at any national.
Anyway, Washougal was a fun track. I liked the layout and the dirt was
pretty good also. It was slippery, but it did work up some good
ruts. In the first moto, I got an excellent start and was running
seventh. I road the entire race at a good pace for myself and I never got
tired. The other guys who just seemed to go around me were just went a
little faster than I was running. I was one to two seconds off the pace
of most of the guys who finished ahead of me, which was encouraging. I
didn't go down or anything for once but just slowly worked my way back to
20th. I know that my endurance is pretty good and I’m just going to keep
doing what I have been doing. Now I am going to work on getting a little
more aggressive and pick up my lap times.
In the second moto, I tangled with David Pingree on the start and had to come from
last place. By the time everyone got my bike and his bike untangled the rest
of the field was already going through the whoops before the finish. I had
a minute and a half to make up before I even caught last place. I just
road around and thought of it as a good moto for training and I ended up finishing
23rd. I thought that was pretty good considering the very poor start I
had. I was fairly happy with the weekend and hope to only improve at the
last three Outdoor Nationals.
Kevin would like to thank LCR, Fly Racing, and VRM for their continued support
along with all his other sponsors.
