This past
weekend went extremely well! I was very excited to be able to ride in the
Factory practice on Saturday, being in the top 10 in the 125 West Coast Series
points allows me to do that. It was much better. The longer
practices with fewer guys on the track made practice a lot more
productive. I started the night off with a good Heat Race (MY BEST
EVER). I got a third place start, behind Bubba Stewart of Team Kawasaki
and Steve Mertens. I got around Mertens with two laps to go and finished
a strong second to James (Bubba) Stewart.
The main was a different story as I started around sixth. I then
proceeded to ride the first four laps like a novice. I messed up so many
times! I don't know what I was doing. Finally on the fifth lap, I
started putting things together. I passed a couple guys. A couple
of guys went down, (a thank you to them). Then next thing I knew I was in
fifth place. I caught up to Sean Hamblin of Team Suzuki, but he was
riding very well. Sean and I started to catch Danny Smith of Team
Suzuki. Since, we were all taking the same lines and running practically
the same speed, there was no passing to happen. I finished fifth Overall,
which was my second best finish ever. I am very pleased with how things
turned out. I hope to put my Yamaha on the podium soon.
