Kevin Johnson Recap Last Few SX Races While Gipsying Around the Country

Well, I haven’t written an update in a couple of weeks because I have been driving around like a crazy gipsy.  I have been all over the South.  I stayed in Atlanta after the race there.  I have to say thanks to Matt Walker for letting me train at his track a couple of days.

Then, I headed down to Daytona.  The track was rough, and kind of dumb in my opinion.  I don’t think it had the best design, but I have ridden worse.  It was hard and I think that is why people didn’t like it.  The one thing about that race that was different than most was you could make up time and make passes.  It wasn’t the funnest track to ride, but since I have mastered the LaRocco starting technique it was good.

I always have to come from the back and this was no exception.  I was happy about not fading too bad and a 12 on that track with a horrible start was OK.

After Daytona, I went over to Millsap’s Training Facility.  It was awesome!  They have RV hookups, a supercross track, and outdoor track.  It was fun.  The only bad thing was I broke a tranny and a head on my bike. We did more bike work than riding.  But it was still fun.  Special thanks to Davie and his mom, and also Brian Johnson Sr.

Then it was on to St. Louis. It was a tough night for me.  I don’t know what happened between the first practice on Saturday until the main.

In the first practice, I was tripling into a rhythm section that only 250 guys and Stewart were doing.  I was on the gas.  Then I forgot how to ride and barely made the night show. I looked like a total idiot on the bike.  In my Heat, I finished eighth, which was good for how I was riding.  In the main, I got a bad start and proceeded to ride terrible for the first couple of laps.  Then I just rode well.  I don’t know why.  I made it up to 13th, which is not good, but hey it was better than I thought I was riding.

Now I am in Dallas staying with Eric Vallejo, who is going to be back this weekend.  Hopefully I can remember soon how to race.  I would like to thank Heath Voss and his family for allowing me to come down and ride.

You guys are great! Thanks.
