I just thought I would write in to talk about what I did on my weekend
off
I just thought I would write in to talk about what I did
on my weekend off. I was in a wedding on Saturday. Which meant that
I was in rehearsal on Friday. Sunday however was much different from
a wedding. My brother Keith and my good friend Brian Edwards loaded up
our two vans and headed to Pueblo, CO for a fair race. We had three
bikes, three stands, gas cans, chairs, and gear in each van. We were full
to the top. The good thing about a van is that you can just through stuff
in and don't have to worry about it falling out. I have to do the inside
of my van over because it is not set up too well for three bikes. I will
add one more thing to my to do list this week. Anyway, we got on the road
just after 9a.m. We drove the four and a half hours to the fairgrounds to
find a track not wider than a pickup truck that was built in an outdoor rodeo
arena. It was pretty scary racing the first few laps, but it turned out
to be pretty fun. I really liked the 50cc section where I wouldn't get
out of first gear for three turns.
The night started out really well.
I got a last place start in the first race and got lucky by going around the
pile up and ended up in second place. A few laps later I won the
race. The first 250 race was about the same thing, which was not bad for
borrowing two bikes from Bobby J's Yamaha because mine were all broken. (I am
pretty hard on things; don't know many who are harder.) After the first
250 race, I got really sick and threw up for about 15 minutes. I felt
miserable. All I can say is that God answered my prayer that night.
I asked him to take my pain away and allow me to finish the night out
strong. Before my 125 Main, I realized that my 250F had a flat tire and I
hurried to change it. (My friend Mark Brucks helped me; Thanks
Mark!) They had to hold the gate and I ran to the line and the gate
fell. I got an ok start, made my way to the front, and won the dang
thing. After the race, I realized that when I was changing the flat I
stopped thinking about my stomach and just focused on what had to be
done. Sometimes problems are there for us to help us, Thanks Lord!
Then in the 250 main, I got the holeshot and just ran away with it. I was
out of water, out of fuel, and feeling pretty bad, but God sustained me and I just
hope that he is glorified by how things went that night.
After getting our money, we loaded up and
drove home. We left about 11:30PM and got home at 4:00 in the
morning. It was a good thing I took my girlfriend as my copilot, because
it was a rough few hours from 2:00 to 4:00. All in all it was a good
night. The racing was fun, the night was a good night, the promoters did
a good job, and I made some money. All of this was great. But I
know that no matter how I do, as long the praise and glory are put where it
belongs, to God, and I can say that he satisfies, not racing, or anything else,
then it is a successful day.
God Bless
