"KJ" Kevin Johnson Recaps Some Sucessful AX Races
2/11/2006
Well,
it’s been a few weeks since the last story. I am sitting in the airport
in Nashville. I know there isn't a race in Nashville. But, since
Team Faith doesn't have much money, we flew into Nashville and drove to
Memphis. It saved us about a hundred bucks on each person. So
that's five hundred bucks in the bank....for us that’s a good deal.
Anyway.
I have had some good races lately. I have been pretty consistent to get
on the podium, and loving it. Guthrie had one bad night with a crash and
a DNF. But, I followed that up with a second the next night. I felt
good on the larger track and put in the fastest time of the whole
weekend. I was pretty stoked to get a faster lap than Bock Sellards on a
Supercross style track. Then I raced in Hampton, VA. It went pretty
good. On Friday, I got into it with Northrop a little and ended up
third. Then Saturday, I finished up second behind Brock. This
weekend in Memphis, I had one good night and one great night. Friday was
great! I got the holeshot and ran away with the thing for my third win of
the year. Then on Saturday, I had one bad thing make what I thought would
be another great night, to a good night. I got the holeshot and led it
for 19.9 laps. On the last lap I was leading as we went into the last
corner before the finish and my bike seized. Yeah, I was pretty
bummed. But praise Jesus that it wasn't two feet earlier, or two feet
later. I could have crashed in the rhythm section or over the big
double. So, I am definitely thankful that my bike seized where it
did. I ended up 11th, but I walked away. So it was still a good
night. I am still in third in points. Jeff Northrop got his first
win, so that was cool. But he caught me quite a bit in points. I
think I still have 24 points on him going into the last round in Denver.
So, hopefully I can put two great nights and end up third in points.
Thanks so much for all the
help and support. Check me out on teamfaith.com and I hope to see
everyone at the east coast Supercrosses.
God Bless,
Kevin
