1/20/2008
ALBUQEURQUE, NM (February 19th, 2008) – The local
kid, Kevin Johnson, made good in tonight’s Toyota AMA Arencross class main
event aboard his Team Faith, Fly Racing, Bobby J’s Yamaha. His older brother Keith finished second
aboard his Fiberwise Pasta, Rock River Yamaha
with Gray Davenport rounding out the top 3 on his Team Triple Effect Kawasaki .
Kevin Johnson said, “It was great to be home and
race in front of my friends and family.
My wife and I are expecting a child any day and she hasn’t been able to
travel with me and it feels great to win with her here.” He went on to thank the crowd for all their
support. Keith Johnson said about his
brothers win, “I wanted to get a good hole shot so we could have a better
battle, but the gate went down real quick and I barely got my bike in gear.”
In the Toyota
AMA Arenacross Lites class Team Triple Effect Kawasaki
rider Gray Davenport took advantage of a mechanical failure on Travis
Bannister’s Race Day Performance Honda to get the win. Justin Berry rode well and finished 2nd
on his Team Green Kawasaki . The last step on the box was nailed down by
the Team TiLube, MotoXXX Honda rider Colt “45” Humphrey.
After the race Davenport
said, “Travis and I are friends and I was sorry to see his bike break, but I’m
happy to have the win.”
